Every manual top-up costs your team time. Pricing Categories and Pricing Packs let clients buy credit themselves through your panel: you define the packs, enable online recharge, and the client pays and gets credited without anyone on your side touching it.
Step 1: Create pricing categories
Categories group packs by product.
- Open Pricing Categories → Add.
- Category Name: e.g. “Transactional SMS – India”.
- Products: the product this category applies to.
- Save Changes.
Create one category per product and price band you intend to sell, for example: Transactional SMS, Promotional SMS, WhatsApp, Voice.
Step 2: Create pricing packs
- Open Pricing Packs → Add.
- Pack Code: unique identifier. Duplicates aren’t allowed. Use a readable scheme like
TRX-IN-100K. - Pricing Category: the category from step 1.
- Pack Name: what the customer sees, e.g. “100,000 Transactional SMS”.
- Set up cost: one-time cost, if any.
- Number of units: units included in the pack.
- Cost per unit: your selling rate for this pack.
- Tax Rate (%) (optional).
- Payment Gateway Fee (%) (optional).
- Status: Active or Inactive.
- Save Changes.
Step 3: Enable online recharge
Turn on online recharge in General Settings and make sure a payment gateway is configured. Clients can then buy a pack and keep their campaigns running without waiting for your accounts team.
Designing a pack ladder that protects margin
- Price every pack above the cost of the route it will be sent on. Check your vendor MCC/MNC cost rates before setting cost per unit.
- Use volume steps, not a flat rate. A ladder (10K / 50K / 100K / 500K) with a slightly lower unit price at each step encourages larger purchases while keeping the small-buyer rate high.
- Put the gateway fee in the pack. The Payment Gateway Fee field exists so the gateway’s cut doesn’t come out of your margin.
- Keep tax explicit. Set the tax rate on the pack rather than absorbing it.
- Mark packs Inactive rather than deleting them. Deleting a pack that appears in past transactions makes historical reporting harder to read.
- Review packs whenever vendor rates change. A pack sold at yesterday’s cost is a loss at today’s cost.
Managing packs
The Manage Pricing Packs table shows code, name, setup cost, units, cost per unit, tax rate, gateway fee, status, category and timestamp, with search, bulk delete and CSV export of the current page.
