The alphanumeric or numeric identifier a recipient sees as the message sender, such as a brand name for promotional SMS or a shared/dynamic ID for transactional traffic.

Why Sender ID Matters

Sender ID is both a trust signal and a regulatory checkpoint at once: recipients decide whether to open a message partly based on who it looks like it is from, and in markets with DLT-style registration, the sender ID itself has to be registered and matched against the entity sending it before an operator will deliver the message at all.

How Sender ID Works

A business registers its sender ID (commonly a 6-character alphanumeric header for promotional or transactional SMS in markets like India, or a shared/dynamic numeric ID elsewhere) with the relevant registration platform or operator, then ties every outbound message to that registered identifier. The SMSC checks the sender ID against the registration before allowing the message through.

How SMPPCenter Uses This

SMPPCenter's panel lets you configure and route by registered sender ID, and validates it against your registered DLT templates where that regulatory requirement applies, so a mismatch is caught and reported rather than silently dropped.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. In regulated markets, the sender ID has to be pre-registered and matched to your business entity and message template before an operator will accept traffic under it.
