National Customer Preference Register, the India-specific do-not-disturb list that promotional SMS must be scrubbed against before sending, to avoid contacting opted-out numbers.

Why NCPR / DND Matters

TRAI's NCPR exists to give recipients a way to opt out of unsolicited commercial communication, and sending promotional SMS to a registered DND number carries real regulatory penalties for the sender. Getting this wrong is not a delivery problem, it is a compliance one.

How NCPR / DND Works

Before a promotional campaign sends, the numbers are checked against the current NCPR list, and any matches are excluded from the send. Transactional and service messages (like OTPs or account alerts a customer has directly opted into) are generally exempt from NCPR scrubbing, since they are not unsolicited commercial communication.

How SMPPCenter Uses This

SMPPCenter automatically scrubs promotional sends against the NCPR list before the campaign queues, while leaving transactional and OTP traffic untouched by that filter, since it falls under a different regulatory category entirely.
