Why Concatenated SMS Matters
Long SMS describes the condition, a message too long for one segment. Concatenated SMS is the mechanism that makes that split invisible to the recipient: instead of the subscriber seeing two or three separate text messages, their handset reassembles the linked segments into a single readable message.
How Concatenated SMS Works
Each segment carries a User Data Header identifying a shared reference number, the total segment count, and that segment's position in the sequence. The recipient handset uses that header to hold the segments until all have arrived, then reassembles and displays them in order as one message.
How SMPPCenter Uses This
Every multi-segment message SMPPCenter sends is concatenated correctly by default, using standard UDH-based segmentation, so the recipient always sees one message regardless of how many segments it took to deliver it.
