SMPPCenter’s SMPP software lets you modify the Sender Name in messages using normalization rules, ensuring consistent branding or compliance. Here’s how to configure Sender Name rules:
Steps to Modify Sender Name:
- Log In: Access your admin account.
- Navigate to Normalization Rules: Go to Sidebar -> SMPP Client -> Rules -> Normalization Rules.
- Add a New Rule: Click Add to open the modal form.
- Configure Sender Name Rules: In the Sender Name Rules section:
- Origin Sender Name: Enter the Sender Name to apply the rule to (e.g., “SMPP”).
- Sender Name Rule: Choose a condition:
- EQUALS: Matches the exact Sender Name (e.g., “SMPP”).
- CONTAINS: Matches Sender Names containing the text (e.g., “SMPPSoftware”).
- STARTS WITH: Matches Sender Names starting with the text (e.g., “SMPP123”).
- ENDS WITH: Matches Sender Names ending with the text (e.g., “MySMPP”).
- New Sender Name: Enter the new Sender Name (e.g., “SMPPCenter”).
- Sender Name Action: Select an action:
- NO CHANGE: Keep the Sender Name as is.
- REPLACE: Replace with the New Sender Name (e.g., “SMPPCenter”).
- APPEND PREFIX: Add a prefix (e.g., “MySMPPCenter”).
- APPEND SUFFIX: Add a suffix (e.g., “SMPPCenterApp”).
- REMOVE PREFIX: Remove a matching prefix (e.g., remove “My” from “MySMPP”).
- REMOVE SUFFIX: Remove a matching suffix (e.g., remove “App” from “SMPPApp”).
- Save the Rule: Set the Status to Enabled and click Save.
Example:
- Origin Sender Name: “SMPP”
- Sender Name Rule: EQUALS
- New Sender Name: “SMPPCenter”
- Sender Name Action: REPLACE
- Result: All messages with Sender Name “SMPP” will use “SMPPCenter” instead.
Best Practices
- Ensure the New Sender Name complies with operator and regulatory guidelines (e.g., DLT requirements in India).
- Test the rule with a small batch of messages to confirm the Sender Name displays correctly.
