The customer connects their CRM over OAuth, picks an object, and new records trigger messages.

HubSpot

Connects over OAuth.

Objects available: Contacts, Companies and Deals.

Sends SMS, WhatsApp template, voice call or RCS template when a new record is added to the chosen object.

Logs delivery status as a Note on the record.

Logs incoming replies as a Note on the matching record.

Salesforce

Connects over OAuth.

Objects available: Leads and Contacts.

Same four channels on new records.

Logs delivery status as a Task or Note on the record.

Logs incoming replies as a Note on the matching record.

Message Type: set it, do not assume it

Both connectors let you choose Message Type (Text or Unicode) when connecting or configuring an object, and automated sends use the saved value.

This matters for anyone sending in a regional script. Before this setting existed, automated sends always went as text, which garbles non Latin content. If a customer complains that their Hindi or Arabic automated messages arrive as question marks, this is the field to check first.

Salesforce sandbox accounts and RCS

Automated RCS sends from Salesforce used to be skipped on sandbox accounts with a “Bot not found” error, because the cron resolved bots differently from the logged in panel. That is fixed, so sandbox bot resolution now behaves the same in both. If a customer testing RCS in a Salesforce sandbox sees that message, check the build version.

Setup, briefly

Connect the CRM account.

Choose the object.

Turn on the channels you want, as cards with switches.

Write the message and insert record fields as placeholders.

Set Message Type for SMS.

For WhatsApp, pick the approved template and map its variables.

Save.

Remember that enabling an automation only affects records created from that point on, so a CRM with 50,000 existing contacts will not suddenly start messaging all of them.

Related articles

How the Connector Plugins Work

Zoho CRM Connector: Messaging From Leads, Contacts and Deals

Google Sheets Connector: Send From a Spreadsheet Row

SMS API support for unicode and regional SMS

Both connectors watch CRM objects for new records and log results back on the record.
